I decided I wanted gastric bypass surgery about 3 years ago after having been obese my entire life. Dr. Katkhouda was the doctor assigned by my HMO. I was very pleased through the research I did to find out how highly respected he was in the medical community and how well published and experienced he was in this type of surgery. Although I was initially disappointed with the fact that he had a year long waiting list, I ended up being so glad that he was my surgeon. Because I had had 6 other gynecological abdominal surgeries, I had developed a lot of scar tissue and I believe it was only because of Dr. Katkhouda's skill and experience that he was able to do my procedure laparoscopically and not forced to open me up. 

My life has changed so dramatically! In just one short year, I have lost 115 pounds and dropped from a size 22 to a size 10. I exercise regularly and enjoy it. I now enjoy doing all kinds of physical activity including snow skiing, swimming and bicycling after 20 years off from these sports! Shopping is so much fun now and I can easily keep up with my two teenage daughters! I feel so much more confident and self assured in all areas of my life. The support group both at monthly meetings and on the website have been a very big part of my recovery and have hepled me so much. I have made such dear friends who i know I will be close to for life. I thank God for leading me to this surgery and specifically to Dr. Katkhouda and the USC team. Believe me Dr. Katkhouda is worth waiting for.

As a RN from USC University, I have had the most life changing & wonderful experience of knowing Dr. Namir Katkhouda. Through my experiences of taking care of his patients, I was impelled to seek out his expertise for my own surgery. 

On July 12, 2004, Dr. Katkhouda and staff worked their magic, performing my laparoscopic gastric bypass with roux-n-y surgery. This was the first day of my new life. Dr. Katkhouda visited me in the hospital and told me this very true fact, of beginning a new life and to take advantage of the tools he provided me with. 

Each day I wake up, excited to see what life has in store for me. I am able to do more physically challenging activities, have learned that the gym has become my third home after my real home and work and now have an even more special relationship with my patients of Dr. Katkhouda. They awake meeting not only their nurse but also a fellow patient of Dr. Katkhouda. I can see the sparkle in their eyes, knowing that everything is going to be alright. I tease Dr. Katkhouda and ask him if he truly knows how many people love him. Of course he knows this, but just smiles. He and his staff have always been there for me and I am forever grateful. I am still working at reaching my goal of a 130 pound weight loss and at 13 months out, down 105 pounds, the last 25 is just as exciting to lose as the first 25 was.
